This is not, and I repeat NOT, an ode to Avril.
It doesn't matter what anyone says about Avril Lavigne. She definitely makes quite a spectacle of herself. I find myself watching her videos when I tune into MTV and she is featured. Yeah, she's pop. And I'm not into pop even though my musical background rooted from the cheesiest boybands (Westlife included. I hope you guys don't hate me for this. Rock and Hardcore never reached me where I grew up, only Rickdee's Weekly Top 40's). However, you can't deny that she got the candy ass looks and the bad ass style. The only thing I can't get over is how she pulled this off: people taking her for a poser (poseur) because of her using this persona and making pop music, or getting them-who-aren't-aware think she was punk and her music was punk rock.
Oh sure. Tell me Sk8r Boi is punk coz its a about a skater dude. She's an airhead for crying out loud.

What the hell happened to my IDOL????? Who the hell thinks her music sounds better "now that she's dancing"? For crying out loud, she's taking after Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, and Britney Spears!! That is NOT Jewel Kilcher!!! That is an impostor!!! That is some cheesy ass bitch who went to some hi-tech plastic surgery facility, had an exact replica of jewel's face made as a rubber mask, and went down to some record company selling off Jewel as herself. Then she made this degrading music video.
Why? Why?
WHY?? Jewel is so fuckin talented. She made a name for herself, she worked her ass off as a kid and she got way far even though a lotta people were dissing her. She was sellin' albums, she had a charity goin' on, I didnt think she was after the money, and she wasn't stripping to catch attention.
But now she had to resort to this! She got waxed, she got....
boobed, she probably got braces, too, which probably explains why she was gone for a few years, and why she got 'em nice pearly whites. She had her blouse blown open in her video, she was splashed with water from a hose, she was running her hands up and down her body, she was grinding.... she was being
sexy.
My point is, she was (i dunno about now) a very talented, respected, clean artist and performer. Her goody-goody image wasn't Mandy-Moore-sugary-sweet, but rough yet truthful. Her voice was beautiful and it gave meaning and soul to her songs.
And don't give me that crap that she's "moving on". I don't think so. It's like saying Nine-Inch Nails went punk. Or Ozzy Osbourne going punk. Well, personally, I'd like to see that happen... Imagine Ozzy Osbourne in his prime jumping around in knee length shorts, high socks, sneakers and his beer belly. I think its cute. Hahaha.
Anyway, If Jewel keeps this up, she's gonna be another Playboy-magazine potential. And I don't wanna see that happen. Maybe after this, I'm gonna write some un-fan mail to her. Maybe I'll tell her how I dont' like her new image. Hmmmm... maybe I'm just reading too much Jessica Zafra...
